  • Introduce the new team dedicated to supporting PGR development.
  • Affirm the University's focus on PGRs as a hugely valued part of the researcher community, placing PGR development and success at the heart of plans and priorities.

Information about the Facilitators

The Academy The role of The Leadership, Organisational, Professional and Academic Development Academy (The Academy) is to promote and enable organisational excellence through the strategic development of the University’s people and practices. We support the development of high performance in leadership and management, research, education and professional practice, working with partners across the institution and beyond to achieve the highest standards of excellence. We foster collaboration, innovation and enhancement; providing opportunities for continuous improvement at individual, team and organisational levels in pursuit of Liverpool’s strategic objectives. The Researcher Development team are based in the Academy and support the development of PGRs to Postdocs to Mid-Career Researchers to Principal Investigators and Managers of Researchers.

Dr James Howard (he/him) is Director of The Academy at the University of Liverpool, supporting the University’s strategic objectives for research, education and professional services, through the development of the University’s people and practices. He oversees the work of The Academy’s core teams and, as a member of the University’s senior leadership, ensure that staff in all roles, at all levels, are able to access sector-leading development opportunities.

Dr Saneeya Qureshi (she/her) is Head of Researcher Development and Culture based in The Academy, responsible for activities that place Liverpool at the forefront of Researcher Development practice for all postgraduate researchers and research staff across all career levels, through tailored internal programmes and the leadership of flagship projects.

Prof. Georgina Endfield (she/her) is Professor of Environmental History and Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research Environment and Postgraduate Research. She is committed to ensuring postgraduate researchers across the University thrive in their programme and progress to the career of their choice.

Ms Claire Faichnie (she/her) is the Senior Researcher Developer for PGRs based in the Academy.

Dr Antoinette McKane (she/her) is a Researcher Developer for PGRs based in the Academy.

Ms Rebecca Hoyle (she/her) is a Researcher Developer for PGRs based in the Academy.
